Find your voice in English
through one-to-one conversation sessions
Your English is good. So why does speaking still feel so hard?
Maybe you hesitate before you speak. Maybe the words come out differently to how you planned them. Maybe there's a gap between who you are in your own language and how you come across in English.
If any of that sounds familiar, you're in the right place.
These aren't traditional lessons. They're one-to-one conversation sessions: a supportive space to connect in English, find your voice, and feel more like yourself.
My sessions are for upper-intermediate and advanced English learners who want more than correct grammar or textbook phrases. They're for curious, thoughtful, growth-oriented people who want real connection, not performance. If you care about expressing yourself clearly, naturally, and with nuance, you'll probably love this style of session.
Together, we'll focus on meaningful conversation and real-life language. The kind of English that helps you sound like yourself, with less pressure and more ease.
Jo is the ideal conversational teacher I have been looking for. I particularly like her rich experience in life and her interest in psychological and social topics which makes the conversation in depth and meaningful. She gives feedback which greatly boosts my confidence in speaking.

WHAT IT'S LIKE
A session with me
Every session is built around you; your interests, your work, your world. There are no grammar drills, no textbooks, no pressure to be perfect. Just a real conversation in English, with gentle feedback woven in so naturally you barely notice it.
You'll come away having said things you didn't know you could say. Over time, you'll stop second-guessing yourself and start speaking with the confidence you already have in your own language.
I would recommend conversational lessons with Jo to every one who enjoys good academic English and talking to a really nice person. For me that's the best way to improve your speaking skills when you talk to a well-educated person with knowledge in different fields. Sincerely thank you Jo, for such interesting and encouraging conversations.

ABOUT ME
The person behind the sessions
I studied modern languages at university, then spent years working in mental health before finding my way into English teaching. So much of what I bring to these sessions comes from that mix of language, listening, and a genuine interest in how people think, feel, and express themselves.
I’m based just outside London in the UK, and I’m a mum to two almost-grown-up children. Outside work, I love books, podcasts, music, current affairs, social issues, and getting out into the fresh air with my hyperactive dog, Milo. I’m also a lifelong learner myself. I’m currently studying Mandarin and, in another part of my life, learning more about YouTube and content creation too, which regularly reminds me what it feels like to be a beginner. So I understand the vulnerability of searching for the right words, building confidence, and trying to express yourself when it doesn’t all come naturally yet.
The people I work with are often thoughtful, reflective learners who want more than grammar practice. They want to feel articulate, confident, and more like themselves in English. If that sounds like you, you're probably in the right place.
Jo is a fantastic teacher. Her lessons have enriched me a lot, not only to practice my English but also to deepen different interesting topics. Having a teacher like Jo really makes a difference. Thank you so much!

There’s no fixed schedule and no pressure to commit. Just book when you’re ready. Most of my students come back because they leave feeling more relaxed, more confident, and a little more like themselves in English.
